Evelyn Glennie is the most famous percussionist the world has ever known, celebrated for her musicality, technical wizardry, and electric stage presence. She will perform the local premiere of Christopher Rouse's concerto(written for Evelyn); a musical essay on Alberich, the Wagnerian dwarf. Direct quotations from Wagner are part of this intriguing and entertaining tale. We open the program with Wagner himself, and conclude with Richard Strauss' beautiful and moving tone poem, concluding with the most superb C-major chord ever orchestrated.
