A Russian Master

We just passed the centennial year of Shostakovich’s birth (2006), but let’s prolong the well-deserved celebration of this musical giant of the Soviet era. The 5th Symphony and the bright Festive Overture are two of the master’s most positive and triumphant works. I’m delighted we can present Wolfgang Schmidt, the brilliant young German cellist who has already been a sensation in Europe. The energy and fire of his playing in this great concerto will light up the house!
