March 24, 2008 | 12:00 AM
Rimsky-Korsakov: Russian Easter Overture
Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto
Ponce: Estrellita, for Vn and orch
Schumann: Symphony No. 1 in B-flat
Josh Bell first came to national attention at the age of 14 in a highly acclaimed orchestral debut with Riccardo Muti and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Since then, few American instrumentalists have outshone the remarkable career of this Indiana native son. Triumphant concert tours throughout the world, world premieres onstage and onscreen, Grammy awards, television specials, and national and international accolades have been regular features of Josh Bell’s successes. Billboard Magazine named his recording, Voice of the Violin, the 2004 Classical Album of the Year and Bell the Classical Artist of the Year. This World Artist is one of a kind: in composer John Corigliano’s words: “Joshua plays like a god.”
