For this evening the orchestra is the star. Enjoy the brilliant, effervescent overture by Leonard Bernstein, which makes clear that 'everything is for the best in the best of all possible worlds!' We follow with Tchaikovsky's beloved Serenade for Strings, and finish with Bartok's triumphant masterpiece, which tests and demonstrates every ounce of an orchestra's ability.
