Image and music: we explore film, opera, and ballet. Richard Whiting, a Peoria native, composed music for the early film industry and probably knew Korngold. Korngold’s beautiful violin concerto uses themes from three of his movies. The young American composer Armand Ranjbaran brings Batman to the opera stage. Finally, Prokofiev joins us again to tell the classical tale of history’s most famous lovers. When music evokes the image, the mind itself becomes the stage.

PHILIPPE QUINT, VIOLIN SOLOIST

Renowned as both a soloist and recording artist, two-time Grammy Award nominee Philippe Quint has been hailed by audiences and lauded by music writers. A recent critique by The Chicago Tribune proclaimed: "What a terrific soloist the young Russian born American violinist Philippe Quint makes! Here is a fiddle virtuoso whose many awards are fully justified by the brilliance of his playing". "A Legend in the Making," was one critic's prediction, while "flawless," "dazzling," "extraordinary," and "astonishing" are only a few adjectives awarded him by the press.
