We'll devote the first half of this Scandinavian evening to Denmark's pride, Carl Nielsen. The overture describes a day of the sun (Helious), from magical dawn to mystical twilight. The concerto is one of the finest written for flute, and our special guest, recording artist Thomas Jensen, will demonstrate the complete range of the instrument's possibilities in music that fascinates and surprises. Our season comes to a close with the inspiring conclusion of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius's 2nd Symphony.
