Kyle Dzapo

Kyle Dzapo, principal flutist of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, is Associate Professor of Music at Bradley University where her work has been recognized with the Caterpillar Inc. New Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching and the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts Award for Excellence in Scholarship. She is a pre-concert lecturer for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and author of Joachim Andersen: A Bio-Bibliography (Greenwood Press, 1999). She currently serves as Secretary of the National Flute Association and has been appointed Chairman of the 2005 national convention in San Diego, California.

As winner of the Society of American Musicians Young Artist Flute Competition, she presented solo recitals on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series and Chicago's "Mostly Music." She has performed as soloist on Wisconsin Public Radio and at National Flute Association conventions in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Dallas, and Washington, D.C. Last spring, Dr. Dzapo performed recitals in Aarhus, Denmark, and at London's St. Martin-in-the-Fields where she has been engaged to perform again in 2004.

She earned a doctorate at Northwestern University where she was a student and teaching assistant of Walfrid Kujala. She holds a master's degree with Distinction in Performance from New England Conservatory and a bachelor's degree with High Distinction from the University of Michigan.
