Volunteer with the Peoria Symphony Guild

The Peoria Symphony Guild was founded in 1951 as the Women's Symphony Guild, but today is open to anyone who would like to support the PSO through volunteer activities.

The goals of the Guild are to help support the PSO through financial contributions, volunteer aid and community education. Fundraisers have ranged from fashion shows to auctions to recent designer showhouse programs. One of the Guild's most notable accomplishments is organizing and presenting four annual concerts designed especially for central Illinois students in grades 4-12. Conducted by the PSO music director, student concerts are held at the Civic Center Theater and feature the Symphony performing excerpts from classical and popular works as well as the winner of the Young Artists Competition, another Guild sponsored event. Student concerts began in 1954 and attract approximately 6000 students each year. Another educational effort aimed at young audiences is performed by the Guild's Puppet Troupe. Volunteers present one of three puppet programs set to classical music to grades K-3. This program is unique among symphony guilds and received national recognition by the American Symphony Orchestra League in June 2000.
